CNN has fired Chris Cuomo, their Chief Political Analyst for comparing President Trump’s rhetoric to the tactics of ISIS. CNN is claiming that this was an “inexcusable” comment from his part and could not defend it.
CNN fired Chris Cuomo on New Year’s Eve. He was replaced by Andrew Cuomo, the son of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo.
Chris Cuomo was dismissed from CNN on Saturday for assisting his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, in crafting his defense amid a sexual harassment incident. The network suspended Cuomo on Wednesday after the New York attorney general made text conversations exchanged to one of his brother’s senior staffers public.
“Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week awaiting further analysis of fresh evidence concerning his participation in his brother’s defense,” CNN said. “We hired a reputable legal company to perform the investigation, and we fired him immediately. Additional information has come to light throughout the course of that examination. Regardless of the firing, we will conduct an investigation as necessary.”

Shortly after the revelation, the former “Cuomo Prime Time” host delivered a comment.
“This is not how I wanted my time at CNN to end,” he tweeted, “but I’ve already told you why and how I assisted my brother.” “So, as unfortunate as this is, I am very proud of the Cuomo Prime Time crew and the job we performed as CNN’s number one program in a highly competitive time period. I owe them everything and shall miss that great bunch of individuals that accomplished so much.”

The records from Fresh York Attorney General Letitia James “shed new light on Chris Cuomo’s participation in his brother’s defense” and “raise significant issues,” CNN noted at the time of his suspension.
“Chris breached our standards when he disclosed to us that he had given advise to his brother’s workers, and we publicly recognized it. But we also recognized his particular situation and recognized his need to prioritize his family above his profession “According to the statement. “These records, on the other hand, indicate that he was more involved in his brother’s activities than we previously thought. As a consequence, Chris has been placed on indefinite suspension pending further investigation.”
Cuomo, Andrew Cuomo’s younger brother, and Melissa DeRosa, Andrew Cuomo’s staffer, exchanged text conversations in which he attempted to assist his brother in tailoring his response to sexual harassment claims.
Cuomo said that he didn’t notify anybody at CNN that he had contacted another journalist about their story on his brother since it was “not out of the usual.”
Cuomo’s attorney, Isabelle Kirshner, told CBS News on Monday that the former CNN presenter was “honest” with investigators during his deposition.
“He’s never helped his sibling with a source. He’s been quite clear about it “Kirshner said.
Andrew Cuomo has disputed the charges of sexual harassment against him several times, both in public and during his personal interview with investigators. He did, however, quit as governor in August.
