To get started, open up the Steam client and click on the “Friends” tab at the top. Then, click on the “Add a Friend” button. How to message on steam

Now that you know how to join a chat, go ahead and start chatting with your friends, family, and other contacts. The best way to get comfortable with the process is to try it out yourself.
Simply enter the name of the chat and click on the Join Chat button. If you are not already logged into your Google account, you will be prompted to do so. Once you are logged in, you will see the chat interface and can start typing messages.
