TitanReach, a cryptocurrency startup which had been in the news for its sudden disappearance and subsequent reappearance after receiving a large sum of money from an anonymous benefactor, has announced that it will be returning to the market with a new product.
TitanReach is an MMO that was released in 2016. The game received full funding from a mysterious benefactor, which allowed the developers to continue development on the game.
Apparently, a kind spirit came onto Square Root Studios’ TitanReach and saw fit to resurrect the game from the grave. After announcing in August that production would be halted owing to a lack of money, Unravel, the studio’s co-founder, revealed on Discord yesterday that the game has been completely financed “out of the goodness of his heart, no strings attached.”
More information will be released later this week, as stated in the statement, but it seems like development of the MMO will continue. Meanwhile, rumors that Unravel is working on the newly announced MMORPG Bitcraft seem to be true, since Unravel’s name is listed as a community manager on the game’s Discord.
If you’ve been following TitanReach’s progress up to this point, you’re aware that it’s been a rollercoaster. The game initially came on the scene last year, with a Kickstarter effort that didn’t finance and intentions for an Indiegogo campaign that never materialized in lieu of its own cash store, which seems to have averted its first impending death. Since then, the studio has made a number of choices, including offering early access for $70 and attempting to reframe a statement made regarding Square Root’s working circumstances. Following that, the game launched a limited-time free-to-play early access phase, which did not seem to improve the game’s prospects. At least, such was the case until yesterday.
